Privacy Policy

Rainside (听雨, “listening to rain” in Chinese) is an app that plays the sound of rain on your device.

What we collect

Nothing. Rainside has no account, ads, analytics or third-party SDKs, connects to no server of its own, and sends no information off your device.

What stays on your device

Rainside saves a few settings on your device so it opens the way you left it:

• Appearance (System / Day / Night)
• Scene (Rain Curtain / Countryside / Moon Pond / Storm Town / Harbor City)
• The last rain level you chose (Storm Town keeps its own)
• The last timer length you set (listed first in the timer menu)
• How much time is left on a paused timer, and how long the timer was when the rain last stopped (so you can resume the timer, or listen again for the same length, next time you open the app)
• Your listening record: total time, time per scene, time per day for the last few days, and your longest session
• Motion effects (full / reduced)
• Whether all scenes are unlocked
• Whether you have already used “tap to start” and “pull up for a timer” (so the hints stop showing)
• Whether to play alongside other apps' audio or on its own
• Whether you have seen the introduction shown on first launch
• How many times the “pull up for a timer” hint and the Harbor City “what you can tap” hint have been shown (at most twice each)
• The install date, how many full listening sessions you've had, whether a finished session is still waiting to be asked about, and the app version when it last asked for a rating (used to decide when to ask you to rate it on the App Store, at most once per version)

Rainside also caches the rendered scene images on the device so they open faster next time; the system can clear them when space is low.

These settings and the cache are deleted with the app. Neither we nor any third party can read them.

Purchases

“Unlock All Scenes” is bought through Apple's App Store. Payment, your Apple Account and your purchase history are handled by Apple; we never see them. Rainside only asks the App Store on your device whether you have bought it, to unlock the scenes. For how Apple handles this information, see the Apple Privacy Policy.

Permissions

Rainside does not ask for location, camera, microphone, contacts, photos or notifications. Background audio is used only to keep the rain playing after you lock the screen.

Children

Rainside collects no information from anyone, including children.

This website

This site is static. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics or ad scripts. It is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes requests (such as IP addresses) to operate and protect the service; see the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.

Changes

If this policy changes, the update will be posted here with a new effective date.
